Former PC Calum Brand was convicted of assault by beating and given a community order. A later misconduct hearing found gross misconduct proven. He would have been dismissed without notice had he not already resigned.

Criminal: former West Midlands Police Constable Calum Brand was found guilty of assault by beating at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 15 July 2026. On 7 September 2026 he received a community order including 150 hours of unpaid work. The IOPC said the assault was on 16 June 2025. He denied the assault.
Misconduct: a hearing on 2 September 2026 found gross misconduct proven for discreditable conduct, on the basis of the criminal conviction. The published sanction is that he would have been dismissed without notice had he not already resigned. He is to be placed on the barred list.
He is not recorded here as a serving officer dismissed from the force. He had resigned. No appeal is stated in the IOPC notice.
