An accelerated hearing found former PC Steven Allcock committed gross misconduct after he caused the death of Trevor Bartlett by careless driving. He would have been dismissed had he not already left the force.

Criminal: former Nottinghamshire Police Constable Steven Allcock, aged 34, admitted causing death by careless driving. In February 2026 Derby Magistrates’ Court ordered 180 hours of community service and a two-year driving ban. Trevor Bartlett, 80, died after being struck by a police van on a crossing on the A52 Derby Road, Beeston, on 19 December 2023.
Misconduct: an accelerated hearing on 5 June 2026, chaired by Chief Constable Steve Cooper, found gross misconduct proven for discreditable conduct. The hearing concluded he would have been dismissed with immediate effect had he not already left the force. He resigned on 31 May 2026. He is to be placed on the barred list.
The IOPC completed its investigation in December 2024, found a case to answer, and referred a file to the CPS, which authorised the charge.
This is not recorded as a serving dismissal. No appeal is stated in the IOPC notice.
